The price of Bitcoin, the most expensive cryptocurrency, reached 29,000 on December 31, after a two-day high of less than 4,000 in March 2020. This was a good source of income for high-risk investors.

Despite the criticism, the popularity and value of cryptocurrency continue to rise, and in 2020 it produced nine crypto billionaires.


There are 12 crypto billionaires in the annual list of the world's billionaires, and 9 of them became billionaires in 2020 due to the rise in the value of cryptocurrency.


The richest of the world's dozen cryptocurrency billionaires is Sam Bankman Freud of trading company Alameda Research and derivatives exchange company FTX. The 29-year-old MIT Lab graduate has a net worth of 8.7 billion.


Brian Armstrong, CEO, and founder of Coinbase is the second richest billionaire in cryptocurrency. His net worth is 6.5 billion.


In third place is Chris Larsen, co-founder of Ripple Labs. His net worth is 3.4 billion.


Newly added cryptocurrency billionaires this year include Sam Bankman Freud, Jade McCabe with 2 billion, Cameron Winklevoss and Taylor Winklevoss with 3 billion each, Mitchell Cellar with 2.3 billion, Matthew Rojack with 1.5 billion, and Tim Draper with 1.5 billion. Fred Arsham with 1.9 billion, Chang Peng Zhao with 1.9 billion, and Barry Silbert with 1.6 billion.


The Forbes list was made public on the day the world's cryptocurrency market surpassed 2 trillion for the first time. The total value of the cryptocurrency was 1 trillion last January.


In terms of market cap, Bitcoin tops the list with 1.06 trillion, followed by Ethereum, Binance Coin, XRP, and Tether.
