 In the 11 months of the Fiscal Year 2077/78, i.e. from Shravan 2077 to June 2078, mobile phones worth Rs. 34.14 billion have been imported.

According to a recently updated report by the Customs Department, 6,554,323 mobile phones were imported from different countries in the 11-month period from July 2077 to mid-June 2078.

The report states that out of the total import of 63,55,234 mobile phones till April, the number of mobile phones increased by 1,99,089 in June 2078 BS to 65,054,323.

Of these, 53,059,329 mobile phones worth Rs 20.76 billion have been imported from China.

After this, 9 lakh 2 thousand 757 units of mobile phones worth Rs 11.83 billion have been imported from India.

Similarly, 2 lakh 85 thousand 797 from Vietnam worth Rs 1.24 billion, 691 from Korea worth Rs 59.99 million, 1001 units worth Rs 796 thousand from UAE, 1027 units worth Rs 61.14 million from the United States. There are statistics of imports.

Similarly, 436 units worth Rs 23.42 million were imported from Hong Kong, 1,064 units worth Rs 197.4 million, 427 units worth Rs 22.664 million, and 341 units worth Rs 14.59 million were imported from Qatar.

Apart from this, 1 to 813 mobile phones worth Rs 1,000 to Rs 6.3 million were imported from 40 countries including UK, Indonesia, France, Germany, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.

It can be estimated that most of these were brought for commercial purposes and the rest were for mobile phone sample testing and personal use.

Due to the interest in technology and the Corona epidemic, the demand for mobile devices has increased significantly due to online classes and work from home.

Mobile wallet transactions declined by Rs 1.75 billion in June alone

The number and amount of transactions through mobile wallets in Nepal has decreased significantly in June compared to April.

According to the monthly report of Nepal Rastra Bank, the number of transactions done through mobile wallet till mid-June is 9.75 million.

This number has decreased by 9 lakh 93 thousand 446 as compared to one month ago i.e. mid-February.

By mid-April, the number was 1743311.

It is estimated that the service has been affected due to the corona epidemic in mid-April, even though the public's attachment to digital business has started to increase.

The number and amount of transactions through mobile wallets, which declined in April, continued in May.

As the number of transactions decreases, so does the transaction amount.

The turnover through mobile wallet was Rs 10.106 billion by mid-April, but it has come down to Rs 8.35 billion by mid-June.

This amount is Rs 1.75 billion less than the previous month.
